About Us Family run friendly garage. William Rutter Motor Services was established in 1985 in Brunel Road, Bedford. Bill started out as a ‘one man band’, and soon after was joined by Ian Jones. We expanded into our current premises in Hammond Road in 1988. Bill and Ian started out as Ford trained technicians and over the years have gained vast experience and knowledge of most makes of cars. We also went on to become an MOT test station in 1992. We have built up the business by word of mouth recommendations, in fact many people are probably unaware we are tucked away in Hammond Road! Very sadly we lost Ian in February 2022. In 2025 we will celebrate 40 years in business.

Have been using William...
Have been using William Rutters for over 12 years, great service, very friendly, trustworthy and reliable.On my first visit there I went for second opinion as was told by another garage I needed new brake discs , Bill removed wheels and checked and told me new discs were not needed and charged me �20! So pleased with this honesty, I have been there ever since!

Very quick to help...
Very quick to help me with my repair yesterday. I am recently widowed and car repairs were normally dealt with by my partner so the garage were so supportive and quick to help diagnose the issue and explain what would happen and fix it. Very pleased with their service.
